3 chouchous de l'hiver

Essential steps to soothe tight skin

A little cocooning moment for your skin

Cold is a precious ally for health in general for its toning, invigorating, and anti-inflammatory properties. Cryotherapy is, in fact, highly recommended for many pathological conditions and has widely proven itself in sports recovery.

But for thin, dry, and/or sensitive skin, cold can be an aggression, especially when exposed to temperature fluctuations between heated interiors and the cold winter outdoors.

So, today I am suggesting three essential products from La Canopée to soothe, comfort, and protect skin looking for softness, suppleness, and comfort.

The perfect trio is composed of: the soothing milky rose mask, the universal cream and the ultra-nourishing oily serum.

Our 3 favorite products

1/ The soothing milky rose mask

This treatment is a true pause for softness. Its creamy, nourishing texture provides immediate comfort for dry and sensitive skin that is particularly prone to tightness.

It is composed of three key active ingredients: marshmallow, rose, and oat, as well as coconut and sesame vegetable oils.

This synergy will envelop the skin to nourish it effectively, soften it, and soothe even the most damaged complexions.

👉 Two applications are possible for this cream mask:

Once the skin is perfectly cleansed and clean, you can apply a generous layer over the entire face and leave it on for about twenty minutes.

Then, either you rinse with clear water and apply a few drops of your favorite oily serum.

Or, you remove the excess product using a damp reusable cotton pad. I recommend the second option if your skin is particularly dry and

sensitive. Indeed, an invisible film will remain on the surface of the skin to seal in moisture and bring suppleness to your face.

Cécile, our co-founder of La Canopée and Chemical Engineer specializing in green chemistry, has selected a magical active ingredient for this formula:

It is the oily macerate of Gromwell roots!

It is these that provide the lovely pink color to this product because they are red.

This ingredient is rarely used in cosmetics, which is a shame because it contains unparalleled anti-inflammatory, healing, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.

It is therefore a very interesting, complete active ingredient to meet the needs of sensitive skin!

2/ The Universal Cream

It carries its name very well; this moisturizing and soothing treatment is suitable for everyone, for all skin types.

It is THE essential cream to use this season during your morning and evening rituals or whenever your skin feels tight.

It is composed of targeted active ingredients to hydrate, soften, nourish, and soothe the skin very effectively:

  • Inulin is derived from chicory roots and possesses hygroscopic powers (which captures water and retains it in the skin).
  • Glycerin is a hydrophilic compound that also has the power to retain water in skin cells. Together with inulin, it forms an effective moisturizing duo.
  • Baobab vegetable oil is precious for its regenerating, emollient, and softening qualities thanks to its high content of vitamins A, D, E, and F. It brings suppleness and elasticity to the skin.

For application: on perfectly clean skin, you can apply a dab of universal cream mixed with a few drops of your favorite oily serum, or apply it before your serum. Comfort, softness, and a soothing sensation guaranteed.

👉 I also recommend this treatment for hydrating and protecting your hands, which are also exposed to the cold.

3/ The ultra-nourishing Oily Serum

This is our richest oily serum!

It is composed of precious vegetable oils like baobab, sesame, hazelnut, and macadamia nut oil.

This cocktail of essential fatty acids intensely nourishes the skin, regenerates, protects, and perfectly seals moisture in the heart of the cells.

This treatment will be particularly beneficial for skin in perpetual need of comfort, nutrition, and elasticity.

👉 I highly recommend this application:

Keep the skin still damp from your mist or your favorite hydrolat of the moment, apply the universal cream in a generous layer, and only then apply a few drops of the ultra-nourishing oily serum. This way, you optimize hydration and achieve better skin comfort!

If, however, you fear shine on your skin, you can take your cream along with a few drops of the ultra-nourishing Oily Serum in the palm of your hand. Mix the two textures together and apply the mixture by massaging your face generously.

Finally, to avoid redness and sensations of discomfort during this particularly cold season, I advise two things:

→ Avoid thermal shocks as much as possible. Whether it be during your face cleansing (lukewarm water is strongly recommended) or overheated interiors. Thus, the skin will not suffer from sudden changes in temperature and your cheeks will be spared from scarlet red!

The following advice is valid all year round and even more so at this moment:

→ Use gentle cleansers (sulfate-free/surfactant-free...), respectful of our skin's natural protective barrier, the essential hydrolipidic film. This film is what guarantees skin balance; it helps to protect and maintain a certain suppleness to our faces.

To go further:

Cold weather means protection for the skin and for the body in general.

Especially if your skin is worn out, dry, and/or sensitive.

I advise you to prioritize good fatty acids in your diet as well as protective antioxidants.

Now is the time to consume good vegetable oils rich in essential fatty acids such as flaxseed, camelina, or walnut oil. Always raw, to add to your dishes.

As for antioxidants, favor fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotene such as sweet potato, pumpkin/squash, carrots, or mango.

Your skin will be nourished and protected from the inside as well as the outside!
