The Power of the Mists
Often used as a complementary product in a ritual, hydrating mists are nevertheless worthwhile to incorporate into your daily routine to achieve good results, for all skin types and in the long term.
To begin with, I would like to clarify the term "mist".
These aqueous products can be called lotions, essences, or even toners.
In the conventional sector, and sometimes in the natural cosmetics sector, these formulas are composed mainly of water and a low percentage of active ingredients.
At La Canopée, all our skincare products are 100% of natural origin, of course, but also 100% active thanks to the high percentages of precious ingredients that compose them. All the materials in the formulas contribute their properties.
Concretely, what is the point of spraying a mist on your face, and when should you incorporate it into your routine?
The primary role of a mist is to provide good hydration. After cleansing, spray your face once or twice.
Micro-droplets will form on the skin; this is the perfect time to apply the rest of your ritual, such as an aqueous serum and/or a cream and/or an oil serum.
Indeed, damp skin will capture the active ingredients of your skincare products to help them penetrate deep into the skin optimally.
You can now see the value of this trick; it is THE effective step to hydrate and maintain optimal skin suppleness.
Also, applying other products to damp skin makes them easier to apply. A small amount of serum/cream/oil will be sufficient, which allows for significant savings on your favorite products!
In our range, we offer two different mists; the anti-pollution active mist and the hydrating mist with Mediterranean flowers.
I highly recommend our essential anti-pollution active mist to anyone living in a polluted environment, in the city, or who smokes and/or is surrounded by smokers.
This step is directly inspired by Asian rituals.
This part of the world is particularly affected by city pollution, and unfortunately, one can only observe the harmful effects of pollution on cellular aging.
The key active ingredient in this lotion is the aqueous extract of Camellia petals. This flower is a real gem for skin protection. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties protect our cells from heavy metals. It is a rare, patented active ingredient whose effectiveness has been proven.
The second key active ingredient in this mist is orange blossom floral water: particularly sensitive, oily, and/or blemish-prone skin will appreciate its numerous calming (for the skin and the mind) and antiseptic properties. It immediately soothes stressed, irritated skin and adds radiance.
This renowned floral water is therefore a must-have for all skin types!
Our second mist, the aptly named hydrating mist with Mediterranean flowers, is a valuable aid for skin in need of hydration, comfort, and balance.
It is composed of a synergy of floral waters and essential oil to meet the needs of all skin types:
• Damask rose floral water is known for its toning, astringent, and firming properties. It softens the skin and prevents the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles.
• Orange blossom floral water with the essential properties mentioned above.
• Geranium essential oil, an iconic flower of the Mediterranean basin, has healing, purifying, anti-inflammatory, and firming properties.
To complete the formula, Cécile, our chemical engineer and co-founder of La Canopée, decided to include inulin in this mist.
This outstanding hydrating ingredient has a very interesting function in this lotion because this "sugar" derived from chicory roots has the power to retain water in the skin tissues, making it the guarantor of effective and lasting hydration. The skin is soft, silky, and plumped.
To go further:
I advise you to keep your mists in the refrigerator; the experience will be even more invigorating, as the many qualities of the mists will be complemented by the benefits of the cold.
As a final tip, I recommend spraying one of our mists at the end of your makeup routine (10 cm from the face) or as a touch-up during the day to set the pigments. Guaranteed fresh complexion; this gesture energizes, boosts your morale, and you are ready to face the rest of your day!
