Double cleansing for sensitive skin
The cleansing step is a dreaded subject for sensitive skin.
Bad experiences with certain cleansing products, cotton pads, sponges, and other soaps must have been unpleasant for those with the most reactive skin.
However, this step is fundamental for the health and beauty of this particularly demanding skin type.
A quick reminder about the skin system:
A thin film composed of sebum, sweat, and water protects the skin's surface. This is what we call the hydrolipidic film. It plays a protective role; it is the guardian of healthy skin. Its balance is fundamental to maintaining perfectly healthy skin.
Our current lifestyles, external aggressions (stress, tobacco, pollution, etc.), as well as cleansing products and/or inappropriate techniques can alter this natural barrier, which leads to sensitivity, redness, and discomfort.
" Which cleanser for my sensitive skin? "
An appropriate daily cleanse remains THE priority step in a skincare routine.
If this step is not respected, reactive skin will be the first to suffer as its sensitivity will be accentuated.
Furthermore, a complete personalized ritual will be fully effective once the skin is clean and rid of makeup, pollution, and other impurities.
🚨 Very important: it is essential to use makeup removers and cleansers of natural origin, without aggressive surfactants, in order to respect the natural balance of your skin flora.
Products with the same pH as the skin are strongly recommended.
At La Canopée, we have long been convinced of the effectiveness of double cleansing. This involves a first makeup removal step using an oily product and a second step with a more aqueous cleansing product, such as a foam, a jelly, or even a milk.
This specific ritual originating from Asia is the most precise and complete method of makeup removal/cleansing.
Beauty bonus: massaging your face with oil as the first step in the evening promotes cellular exchange and immediately soothes your skin and your mind.
A moment of softness guaranteed 🌸
In order to take care of your skin and convince you that this moment will be a pleasant AND effective break, I propose a tailor-made double cleansing ritual to perform in the evening:
This involves our Gentle Flower Makeup Removing Oil, the Anti-Tightness Gentle Cleansing Foam, and/or the Gentle Vanilla Cleansing Milk.
1/ The makeup removal step
Gentle Flower Makeup Removing Oil
Do you see the flowers macerating in this oil? They are Chamomile flowers! They are renowned for their soothing and calming properties.
The advantage of keeping them in an oil is that they diffuse their virtues continuously. This is what we call a macerate.
In this formula targeted to calm redness and skin discomfort, the Plum kernel and sweet almond vegetable oils were chosen by Cécile, our chemical engineer and co-founder of La Canopée.
She selected these oils because their softening, antioxidant, and protective properties are the best suited for removing makeup from delicate skin.
For application:
Once your headband is in place and your hands are perfectly clean, I advise you to take a few drops of oil into the palm of your hand.
Then massage your face, eyelids, and neck with broad, gentle movements in order to remove makeup pigments and all lipophilic impurities (attracted to oil).
The eyelashes can absolutely be cleansed with small vertical "sweeping" movements, from root to tip, with eyes kept closed.
Then, using a reusable cotton pad, you can rinse with lukewarm water to help remove the oil and makeup.
We then move on to the second step.
2/ The cleansing step.
Anti-Tightness Gentle Cleansing Foam.
This fine and light foam is particularly suitable for stressed, irritated skin in search of softness.
It is composed of glycerin and inulin, two ingredients of choice for hydrating and providing skin comfort.
The essential oils of blood orange, lavender, and petitgrain bigarade soothe and calm the most irritated skin.
Or
If you have dry and/or sensitive skin and you are a gourmet, then this product is made for you!
This cleansing milk is a cocoon of softness; it is composed of hydrating glycerin and almond oil to provide comfort right from the cleansing stage. Vanilla is a precious spice that is part of this composition for our greatest pleasure. Its scent is indulgent, addictive, and enchanting.
For application:
In the morning, you can take one or two pumps of product into the palm of your hand, massage your face gently in circular motions (be careful with the Vanilla grains, keep your eyes closed), you can rinse and apply the rest of your morning ritual.
In the evening, after the flower makeup removing oil, follow the same technique and rinse with lukewarm water. You can then apply the rest of your evening ritual.
Finally, our body is the mirror of our general health, and if your skin is sensitive, irritates easily, I recommend this ritual:
During your makeup removal/cleansing step in the evening, take these 5 minutes for yourself; it is your time, your bubble.
For this, and to complement the action of soothing skincare, I suggest you take calm, deep, and fluid breaths to calm your mind, your heart rate, as well as the effects of stress on the skin.
Inhale very slowly through your nose, visualizing a fresh, blue air that oxygenates all your cells.
Exhale also very slowly through your nose, visualizing grey smoke, and unburden yourself of everything you no longer need, both literally and figuratively!
You are calm, soothed, and so is your dear skin.
